Hi, my name is Tiarna, and I am an AIPT graduate.
Having danced since the age of just two, I was so excited when Netherlands Dance Theatre noticed me and at just 16, was given the opportunity to fly to the Netherlands to complete their Summer Intensive Program as a full-time dancer.
During the scholarship, I learnt a lot of ways to condition my body and look after my body, particularly with stretching and strength training.
At 18, I stepped away from competitive dance as my profession and decided to enrol and study to become a Personal Trainer. I had always envisaged myself helping to change lives and improve people’s health and fitness, so a career as a Personal Trainer was the obvious answer. I enrolled in Certificate III and IV in Fitness with the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers and now, 12 months later, I am running outdoor boot camp sessions and working as my own Personal Trainer at Fernwood Fitness in Maroochydore.
Now, I feel like I’m able to bring all my ballet training knowledge into the fitness industry and offer my clients more. I love being a Personal Trainer. It’s a great work-life balance and I love being my own boss.
I am determined to continue growing my career prospects and strengthening my name in the fitness sphere. I am currently in the process of setting up my own business where I plan to offer group fitness, boot camps and one-on-one training sessions for all ages, using a variety of training techniques. Alongside building up my clientele and taking on work as a qualified Personal Trainer, I’m planning to undertake my Les Mills Instructor training, offer online personal training services and undertake nutrition studies to further my knowledge of health and fitness.
