I’m Matt – I'm 48 years old and have a history of playing sport from a very young age.
I played high level Rugby League in my late teenage years, but I was sadly forced to retire early from the sport due to injury. After this dream ended, I decided to pursue a career with the NSW Police Force which lasted 19 years.
I’m personally really passionate about helping people reach their potential and finding out what they are capable of. Combining this passion with my love for fitness and sport led me to consider a career change to personal training, and ultimately I chose to undertake my Certificate III and IV in Fitness with AIPT.
I had been a long-time member of Anytime Fitness Kawana and got to know the PT, Chris Nelson. It was through conversations with him that I was really inspired to pursue PT as a career.
I selected AIPT as Chris Nelson, is one of their well-respected 1-to-1 Mentors, and he recommended the course.
I loved the flexibility to study at my own pace; this allowed me to still live my life with family commitments and run my own small business. And I particularly enjoyed the advice and guidance Chris provided.
I would love to be successful at guiding the younger audience who are starting out with their health & fitness journey and helping them navigate the abundance of online content and misinformation that now seems to exist.
You're never too old to learn.
People will tell you the course is easy but, in my opinion, the course is challenging, particularly for someone like me who hasn't engaged in any study for a long time. However after getting into the swing of it, I found it was great to get my brain working and learning again.
